Security before
the building site.

The choices that make a system invisible are made on the drawings, not once the walls are up.

A successful security system is recognised by what you do not see. To achieve it, the important decisions must be made while the building is still a drawing.

What is decided on the drawings

  • Where the conduits run and how the power supplies arrive
  • Where the technical rooms and panels sit
  • Which doors and frames the required level of protection calls for
  • Where it makes most sense to place a safe room or a vault
  • How the reception areas are separated from the private ones

What happens if you wait

When security arrives after the works are finished, every choice becomes a concession: exposed trunking, devices where they fit rather than where they are needed, areas left uncovered. It can be solved, but it usually costs more and it shows.

How I work with the firm and the contractor

I start from the drawings and the client’s objectives, analyse access points, perimeters and blind spots, and indicate what to prepare and where. Then I remain available throughout the works. The method is described on the page For architects and builders.
